Body Wing
KNOW your body and LISTEN to your body! Your body is constantly communicating with itself and with you to let you know what is going on, we just have to tune in to hear it.
A lot of what I am about to put here you may have already read in another section of the website but I am putting all the things to be cautious of here in one place as well.
First, you know the FDA label warning you see on herbal supplements sometimes? The one that goes like “These statements are not evaluated by the FDA…” something else about the product not being intended to treat or cure any disease… blah blah blah. While I can’t claim these products will be 100% effective in everyone for every ailment, I can guarantee you can find some relief from whatever you are suffering from with some kind of herb. Just like how there’s an app for everything, there’s literally an herb for everything. But again, everyone is different, everyone’s bodies are different. One herb may help one person better than another and thats okay because there are multiple herbs for each ailment/symptom. Which is why knowing and listening to your body is crucial to understanding which herbs will work best for you.
Second, there are some herbs in my blends that are stronger than others. There are also herbs that will ‘interact’ with common medications. A common interaction you may have heard is grapefruits. When there are herbs/foods that interact with medications it either means the herb/food will stimulate your body to detox the meds or it will do the same job as your meds, essentially giving you a double dose. Some of these herbs are: St. Johns Wort, Black Cumin Seed,. Any blends that have herbs that may interact with meds are marked with an asterisk* and described which and in what way in the details. Make sure to read all the details for the blends marked with asterisks, they are marked for a reason!
Third, if you have any allergies be especially sure to do your research into herbs that may be in the same family as any allergens that trigger you. It’s uncommon, but let’s say you have a peppermint allergy. You may also have an allergic reaction to Catnip or Mugwort because they are both in the mint family. Make sense? Other allergen warnings are for any oils listed on the website. All infused oils, the body butter and lip balm are made with coconut oil. Again these products will be marked with an asterisk.
And Fourth, It’s advised that I advise you to talk to your doctor about the herbs you’re considering using, especially if you are on medications. I do think it is important for your healthcare provider to know about the natural things you want to do for your health but this is usually only supportive if your doctor is supportive of herbs. Ultimately its up to you and the relationship you have with your doctors, just don’t be surprised if you get any push back and also don’t let that resistance discourage you from trying herbal remedies. Which brings me right back to KNOW your body and LISTEN to your body when experimenting with herbs!
